Connect Tabology
On this page
Connect Tabology, and Fynn offers your guests free tables in the chat and books the one they pick, right in your Tabology bookings. You can connect Tabology on every plan. Fynn books tables on every paid plan, and a 7 day trial includes that too. Table reservations are in beta.
What you need from Tabology
- An API client for Deskwoot. Ask Tabology for one at support@tabology.com. Tabology sets it up for your venue and sends you a client ID and a client secret.
- A back office user. Fynn books with the email and password of a user of your Tabology back office who may manage bookings. You can use an existing user or create one for Deskwoot.
- Your back office address, for example yourvenue.tabology.cloud. It is the address you open the back office at.
Set up your booking times in Tabology
Fynn offers the same times your Tabology booking widget offers. In the back office, under Setup > Bookings > Availability:
- Under Booking availability times, pick the service times guests can book.
- Switch on Enable real-time availability checking, so only times with a free table show.
- Switch on Auto-confirm bookings if bookings should be confirmed at once. Without it, every booking arrives as a request that you confirm in Tabology.
Connect Tabology in Deskwoot
- Go to Settings > Integrations > Appointments.
- Under Restaurant system, click Connect Tabology.
- Enter the Back office address, the Client ID, the Client secret, the Back office email and the Back office password.
- Pick Your venue's time zone and click Connect. Deskwoot checks the details with Tabology right away.
You need the permission to manage integrations; administrators have it. Deskwoot stores the details encrypted and never shows them again, only the last 4 characters of the client ID. One connection is one venue: for a second venue, connect it with its own details.
Switch on your venue
- Switch on the venue under your connection.
- Under Name guests see, give it the name Fynn uses with guests, for example the name on your sign.
- Click Save restaurants.
Fynn then needs only the switch Fynn offers free times in the Fynn section of the same page, saved with Save booking rules, and he has to answer the inbox as a Support Bot.
What Fynn does
- He asks for the number of guests, the day and time, and the name to book under. Seating wishes and the occasion go into the notes of the booking.
- He offers only times Tabology shows as free for that party, and books each table for 2 hours.
- Before he books, Deskwoot checks the time with Tabology once more, so a table that was taken meanwhile is never booked twice.
- He never asks about allergies or health, and passes on only what the guest tells him.
- Tabology sends the guest its own booking email, as for bookings from your website.
In the Fynn section you choose who decides new bookings, cancellations and moves, as for appointments: Your team, in 1 tap or Fynn, after the customer's yes. How the choice works in detail is in Appointments with Fynn.
The booking in the conversation
Every booking shows as a card in its conversation, with where it stands in Tabology: confirmed, waiting for confirmation, cancelled, guest arrived or guest did not come. Tabology cannot tell Deskwoot about changes at once, so Deskwoot reads your bookings itself: a request you confirm or decline in Tabology reaches the conversation within about 5 minutes, a cancel of a confirmed booking within about an hour. The guest hears it in the conversation.
When a booking has a deposit, your team decides about cancelling or moving it, never Fynn.
Enter new details or disconnect
When Tabology no longer accepts the stored details, for example after the password changed, the connection shows Needs a new key, and Fynn books no tables there until you click Enter new details and enter them again. When the user may not see or change bookings, it shows Needs booking rights: give the user access to bookings in your back office, then enter the details again.
Disconnect stops Fynn booking tables at this venue. Bookings already made stay in Tabology, and the conversations keep their history.
Beta
Table reservations through Tabology are in beta, so details can still change. If something does not work the way you expect, write to us at hello@deskwoot.com.
Frequently asked questions
Which plan do I need?
Every plan connects Tabology, the Free plan too. Fynn books tables on every paid plan, starting with Startup, and a 7 day trial includes that. Connecting Tabology costs nothing extra in Deskwoot.
Does Fynn book a table without asking the guest?
No. Fynn offers only times Tabology shows as free and always gets the guest's yes first. Whether your team confirms after that is your choice.
Why does every booking arrive as a request?
Because Auto-confirm bookings is off in your Tabology back office. Switch it on under Setup > Bookings > Availability, or confirm each request in Tabology. The guest hears your decision in the conversation.
Can I use aleno and Tabology in the same workspace?
Yes. Each venue is connected through the system it uses, and Fynn books each table in the right one.
What happens to my bookings when I disconnect?
They stay in Tabology. Fynn stops booking tables there, and the conversations keep their history.
